What Is a Dental Bridge?

A dental bridge is designed to restore one or more missing teeth by preparing the adjacent teeth for dental crowns and using them to support a single ceramic unit that appears to be multiple teeth. It requires the same procedures as a dental crown, including the removal of the outer layer of the tooth and all decay, taking an impression to create a model, having a temporary bridge placed during the laboratory turnaround time, and then cementing the final bridge in place.

Implant-supported bridges can replace multiple teeth without having to use adjacent healthy teeth. By surgically placing the dental implants into the jawbone, they fuse and help preserve the bone providing a solid foundation for the bridge.

When teeth are missing, it can create a decrease in self-confidence. If there are gaps in a person’s smile where teeth used to be, then that person is less likely to feel free to smile without reservation. At our dental office, we work hard to ensure every patient has a healthy and beautiful smile. A dental bridge is a huge part of making that happen.

Signature smiles dental sure lives up to its name…I received signature service and left with a huge smile on my face. Would definitely encourage others to go and see the difference too!

Dental Bridge Process

At Signature Smiles in The Woodlands/Conroe area, our dentists will take an X-ray of a patient’s affected area to determine the treatment plan. If a bridge is required, we will utilize the latest dental technology to take a digital scan to create a digital 3D impression of the teeth. The dental impression will be sent to the lab to create the custom designed bridge. With most treatment plans using bridges, our dentist will prepare the outside teeth to be attached to the bridge. Other treatment plans with bridges can use dental implants, where the bridge will be attached to the implants instead of a prepared tooth.
